TTXGP Next Stop: Laguna Seca
The next TTXGP North American Championship race will be held at Laguna Seca (Mazda Raceway). Due in part to the mishaps Brammo encountered at Infineon Raceway in which Brammo was unable to race, Brammo is currently 5 points off of the lead spot in the series now 2 races into the series of 4. If Brammo can again grab the top spot at the upcoming race, the win should put Brammo back on top in the overall standings for the series.
Fortunately Brammo was able to take advantage of some early track time at Laguna Seca for the 2012 Refuel event which gave Steve Atlas (Brammo Racing) a chance to preview the refined 2012 Empulse RR on the circuit before the next race on July 29th. Unfortunately he was not given free run of the track, as the Refuel event grouped all 2 wheel vehicles onto the same grid resulting in a rather wide discrepancy in performance between the Empulse and the other machines on the track. From Steve’s impressions the Empulse RR appears to have improved dramatically from last year iteration, and despite a somewhat congested track, he was able to pull off improved lap times from the 2011 Empulse RR placing him 1st in this years Refuel event… Fastest lap was 1:40.2 during time trials on cold tires, which means we could likely see faster times under more ideal conditions later this month.
Like last year, this event will be a TTXGP / Fim e-Power joint event and will be staged along side the Red Bull US MotoGP, so there will certainly be a lot going on that weekend. We can also look forward to a much more complete and competitive grid with this being the first combined (TTXGP / FIM e-Power) race this year. It certainly looks like Steve Atlas and the Brammo Racing Team will have their work cut out for them. Stay tuned!
