Brammo Back on Top! Steve-O Numero UNO at PIR!

Team Icon-Brammo has taken top spot at Portland International Raceway (PIR) with an average lap time of 1.18 and an average speed of 87.58 mph around the 1.92 mile circuit. Motoczysz, was expected to be Brammo’s competitor to beat, but unfortunately the impressive Motoczsyz E1PC machines were withdrawn by the Motoczysz team after posting the single fastest lap time of 1:15 in the qualifying session. Due to a shipping delay (from IOM), Motoczsyz was unable to fit the machines with more suitable battery packs for the race. Michael Czsyz explained that the IOM tuned battery packs were not tuned for TTXGP duty resulting in thermal runaway on the battery pack during the preliminary runs.

Its especially encouraging to see Steve-O (Steve Atlas) back in good form leading Brammo to the number 1 spot on the podium after the unfortunate mishaps they encountered during the last race at Infineon Raceway that injured not one but 2 Steves, Steve Atlas, and Steve Rapp.

Next round of the TTXGP North American Championship will be at Laguna Seca (Mazda Raceway) July 28th and 29th followed by a three day event at Miller Motorsport Park August 31st through September 2nd, which I hope to attend myself! :D

Wow, Michael Czsys admits something noone who is marketing a bike should probably admit to the public. In order to compete at the international level and set Isle Of Man they run the batteries in a configuration that would set them afire in a different race. IOM was ~37 miles (1 lap) and PIR race was ~18 miles. You’d think their BMU would be able to compensate for the racer thrashing it and discharging too quickly. But that’s why they race, to learn those lessons.

  2. EmpulseBuyer says:

Yeah I thought that was a bit unusual too… just goes to show how tuned some of these machines have to be to win and how competitive things have gotten. Im sure they could have designed the batteries to be more flexible and run both races but that could have meant the difference between 1st and 2nd place at the IOM race. Unfortunately, in this case, they couldn’t race at all. Not sure why they didnt just run the bikes at a slower pace and at least finish the race with some points.

  3. MotoCzysz says:

MotoCzysz is not marketing a bike for sale. Even if we were, I think it is expected that different races, particularly as different as the IOM/PIR require different set-ups. You are correct, this is what is necessary for the best results… and racing for points is not why we race.

But the real reason we wanted to comment here was to thank Empulse Buyer on the fair and accurate coverage of the event. Nobody was more disapointed then us that we could not race, there is always risks in racing but this risk was to great for the reward.
