Solar Powered Brammo Enertia Plus in Colorado!

With almost the same range as the Nissan Leaf but using 1/4th of the Leafs 24kWh battery the Brammo Enertia Plus will probably have one of the lowest carbon footprints of any EV. How about a ZERO carbon footprint option though? Team the Enertia Plus up with a few solar panels, throw in some fat tax subsidies, and you got yourself a very attractively priced zero carbon footprint urban commuter!

Just like my article “Solar Powered Brammo Empulse in Colorado” I will use give you an example of how much this setup will run you in Colorado. Be sure to check and see if your state has tax subsidies for EVs or solar panels.

Not only does Colorado offer some of the best tax incentives for electric vehicles in the country, but it also has a great climate for solar power! Depending on where you live in Colorado, you may have up to 330 days of sun per year to take advantage of your solar investment. With current tax incentives and rebates available in Colorado, your complete solar PV system could pay for itself in as little as 10 years! If you offset the costs of gas with an EV (Like a Brammo Empulse or Enertia) the system could pay for itself in less than half 1/4th that time!

Now lets look at the numbers to see what we will pay out of pocket and after incentives for the Solar / Brammo Enertia Plus, carbon free combo in Colorado.

Disclaimer: Obviously I am in no way WHATSOEVER a tax professional. The following numbers are estimates based on my own research. Your actual numbers may vary, so I suggest you do your own research.

Item: Out of pocket costs: With available tax Incentives:
Brammo Enertia Plus $8,995.00 10% Federal Tax Credit (-899.50)

85% Colorado Tax Rebate of Incremental Costs (-$3,991.60)

$4,103.90

0.9 kW Solar PV System $3,398.00 30% Federal Tax Credit (-1,019.40)

$2,378.60

Totals $12,393.00 $6,482.50

Your estimated total costs after tax incentives for carbon free transportation in CO is only $6,482.50! How cool is that!

its amazing how this company advertises products that have not been tested and are not available yet. they are pre-selling a bike that has a mystery battery, I hear is made from store bought cells that will last a couple years at best in extreme conditions. I truly believe the irresponsible marketing will come back on Brammo. they are following a flawed model that takes advantage of emotional consumers or those who think they are doing the right thing even though they dont even know what they are buying. Brammo appears to be going from environmentally green to marketing greed. I dont see the female models pushing the product as much, but I also have read they have exploited them in the past. most good companies take a year or so to test new designs, looks like Brammo only needs weeks with the new plus model, how do they do that, maybe the best of the best of the best can do it!

Do a little more research and I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how Brammo is doing business. The original Enertia has been out for several years now and the people that own them seem to love em. The Enertia Plus is a tweaked version of the original with different, higher density batteries. Its already a proven design. The Empulse prototype is just that and is still under heavy development by Brammo, we wont see it available for almost another year, it will certainly get proper testing before it goes to production.
