this is beyond the scope of this site but… it’d be interesting to see a prediction of fluctuation in gas prices (due to rise probably in the next decade), and the decrease in battery prices. One thing I’ve wondered is how the batteries are hooked up to the motor, if it’s fairly standard, it’s possible a single cycle like this could last a very long time if it can accommodate newer cheaper and more efficient batteries down the line. This is all speculation really though.
I found your site via a plug on Autoblog Green for your Solar E-Cycle calculator. Nice! Anyway, one suggestion for true cost of ownership is tires. Everyone needs them, but not every bike’s tires cost the same or wear at the same rate. My 2008 Triumph Daytona 675 wore exotic Pirelli Diablo (Rossa Corsa?) soft rubber and lasted just 7k miles. I’ve since moved on to Dunlop Roadsmarts which have gone as much as 17k miles, but as you know bike tires and cost of mounting them even at Cycle gear actually dramatically outweigh oil costs (which by the way are $60+ for Mobile 4T Synthetic + filter every 7500 miles) I’ll be watching for your review of your Empulse soon!
